Many thanks to NECCO and TICA Northeast for putting on such a wonderful regional cat show. Thank you to all the judges who gave new show cats such a great introduction to the ring; it was so nice to see our cats getting (and giving!) kisses and snuggles in between showing themselves off.
The entry was HUGE and we were thrilled to come away with a seven finals, a new altered champion (FiggandProwle Culinary Class Wars, “Spoons,” our new classic tabby altered show boy, who is only nine months old and well into the double digits in weight), a new champion (FiggandProwle Manhole Space Launch, “Pascal,” our torbie and white girl who just aged into adult), three finals on our beautiful Blitz (Ch. FiggandProwle Battle O Britain, smoke tortie girl) and a nice final and a great start for two kittens, FiggandProwle Survive the Island (“Siren”) and FiggandProwle USS Tourmaline (“Navy”).
We’ve never brought five cats to a show before, but we had finished the Grand championship and Supreme Grand championship of Banana (GRC FiggandProwle Wartime Banana Ban) and D-Day (RW SCM Norman D. Beach of FiggandProwle) in the spring and weren’t sure which cats wanted to go into the whirlwind of the show world next. So we put in a LOT of entries, and now have the very nice problem of seeing ALL of them do well and, even more important, enjoy the process of driving, staying in a hotel, and meeting hundreds of strangers in a weekend.
Our next show is the TICA Annual (the biggest show of the year, the international show where all the regions compete) in September in Canada. We think we’ll bring Pascal, Navy, and D-Day – we’d like Spoons to grow up a little more to really shine. We’ll bring him back out at Christmas to finish his grand, I hope. See you there!
